Roddie
Gilliard
Bass, guitar, vocals
Born in Bootle, Lancashire 1954 this little lad spend his formative
years listening to an old brown vulcanite radio, pearched high
up on a shelf in the kitchen. Sometimes
he would watch "bill & ben" on TV and always listened
to any rock and roll bands that he could find. He grew up with
beatlemania on his doorstep, then he heard The Who and Hendrix
and decided that the electric guitar was the most important
thing on the planet. One night in the late sixties he heard
a Zappa album, in a dark room at a party that was attended by
some older long- hairs. He eventually found out how to play
a few chords and preceeded to join as many bands as he could.
After he
had been playing for about 10 years he decided to go to music
school and find out how to write music down on paper, while
he was there he managed to upset just about everyone there by
performing Stra- vinsky's greatest hits (actually sections of
Petruska & The Rite Of Spring) for rock band. |

| As
the eighties progressed he realised that trying to perform Frank
Zappa's music live on stage was one of the few things that actually
excited him and a lot of his musician friends were beginning
to realise the excitement in it too! |
|
A
plan to perform a 2 hour show of Zappa material, for one night
only was arranged to celebrate Frank's 50th birthday in 1990.
Al- though he has tried on several occasions to "kick the
habit" he has never been able to - it seems that the lad
is condemned to his fate! |
