twas lovely to see so many old faces and some new ones too, we had a great time..

OK here it is, MY favourite show of the last 12 months - THE MUFFIN MEN playing Frank Zappa, stunning musicianship, inspired improv and the ultimate version of Whipping Post and a killer version of City of Tiny Lights.......brothers an sisters it doesn't get any better than this!

here are some rough edits of what might have been chapters 12 and 13 of "muffinz moovies" and would have formed the basis of vol 4.   "muffinz moovies vols 1-3" was a series of dvds issued in limited edition, charting the story of the muffin men and their escapades on the road around europe. they covered the years 1990-2006, arranged in 11 chapters, the discs also included a bunch of live extras.

the rough edit of chapter 12 features a reformed line-up from the original core members along with jimmy carl black touring uk in 2007. chapter 13 features footage shot in germany 2007, although jimmy was suffering health issues he always gave 110% as a performer and band mate. he went on to play just one more short uk tour with the band before flying to that great teepee in the sky.  we miss him deeply

so this has been made available for anyone who was paying attention at the time, those who managed to pick up copies of the original dvds.     for those who are new to the band, here is a video report from a low-budget band on the road, playing music they love to people who wanted to hear it          warning: these videos are long and features nonsense

originally formed in 1990 to play a one-off show to celebrate the music and work of frank zappa. now in their 24th year of operation, the band has gone on to play over 1000 gigs around europe, performing their own arrangements of zappa and beefheart inspired music, incorporating classic british prog/rock/jazz/blues stylings smothered in a tasty slime.
